Welcome to Claire Hunter & Paul Wharton Hardman

South Ribble Labour Group are pleased to announce that we have two new Councillors!

Claire was elected for the first time in November after a hard-won campaign in Bamber Bridge East. Claire has replaced Cllr. Christine Melia who sadly passed away in 2021.

Councillor Paul Wharton Hardman, who represents Farington East ward (along with existing Labour Councillor Jacky Alty) has joined the Labour Party after being an independent and will now sit as a Labour Councillor.

Cllr Paul Foster, Leader of the Council said; “We are really pleased that Paul has decided to join us. He has witnessed first-hand the way the Labour team are wholly united in our community first commitment, and together we are making a huge difference. The Council is unrecognisable from what we inherited, and the efforts during the pandemic have been nothing short of outstanding. We are at the point where more and more people want to work with us and Paul is a most welcome addition to the team and has much to offer”.

Cllr Wharton Hardman added; “I am delighted to have been offered and accepted the opportunity to join the Labour Group at South Ribble Borough Council. Over the previous three years, South Ribble has been transformed by the current administration into a modern thriving council that really puts its residents and community at the heart of its decision making. I look forward to being able to continue to support my residents, working together with the Labour group, at South Ribble Borough Council.”
