Blooming Budget for our Communities

Hi everyone,

In this latest newsletter we continue to update you on the vast amount of work we are undertaking at the Council, your Council!

The great news is that we have just announced a further two year freeze to your South Ribble portion of theCouncil Tax. We are the only Council in Lancashire to freeze council tax this year; this really is great news for us all, particularly with the current financial challenges we are all facing.

We have totally revolutionised everything we do in South Ribble. This is realising huge financial benefits and means we are delivering much more for you, but for less money.

I hope you will have noticed that all the Council’s front-line services are continuing to develop and improve. We’re funding this by sharing some services with our neighbours in Chorley to make cost savings – so it’s a win-win. Yet again, we’re the only Councils in Lancashire delivering services in this way and South Ribble is the only Council in Lancashire that’s freezing Council tax. We are most certainly delivering for you.

In addition, the auditors are waxing lyrical about the strong governance and value for money we have achieved, after all those years underthepreviousadministration. I don’t usually look backwards, but it is important to make a cleardistinction, as it is such an important one.

This year, there are lots of community initiatives available to you all and I urge you to contact your local Labour Councillor or the Labour team for more information about the community and business grants and support services we are offering. We are under no illusion that, although the worst of the

pandemic may be over for some, its impact will still be with us for a considerable time to come, so we have allocated millions of pounds to continue to give everyone the best chance of pulling through. So, if you are a local sports team, community group, business or individual, please do get in touch. There is little that can’t be resolvedand we have the resources available.

You will notice your local Labour team very active during the spring and summer as we attempt to speak and listen to you all on the doorstep. We really do want to make South Ribble the best place it can be for all of us.

Please do check out the Council website for all the details of the services you can access either remotely or by popping into see us, visit www.southribble.gov.uk or email: [email protected]

Take care, Paul
