New Housing at Old Mckenzie Arms

Further sites are designated for more council housing in South Ribble. Building is about to begin on the Old Mckenzie Arms site on Station Road, Bamber Bridge after planning permission was approved for 15 new affordable rented properties in August 2020.

These new homes will be considered ‘green’ as they will see low energy bills for heating and cooling, better indoor air quality and support our ambitions to become a carbon neutral borough.

Cllr. Matthew Tomlinson Cabinet member for Finance, Property and Assets said; ‘What a result, I am so please the development on this site has been approved by the committee.

This will be the first time in 25 years the council will own housing stock. It was the key aim of our administration when we took over the reins of South Ribble and hopefully this will be the first council owned development of many’.
